La Junta students build virtual Bent's Old Fort

This was a very interesting article that described high school and college students in the La Junta area working together to create a virtual representation of Bent's Old Fort. This is an interesting initiative from the Immserive Education Club to use virtau reality and games for educational purposes. In this case they are using the game "MineCraft" to virtually simulate and replicate the historical monument.

The club right now is in the early stages is using MineCraft as almost a stepping stone to using more complex and sophisticated technologies in the future. They are then going to proceed to use the architectural program, Autocad, and Autocad 3D. They project that this will be finished in about two years and that this will be a fun and interactive way to learn not only about virtual spaces but also basic engineering and architectural properties as well. It is also an initiative that is being supported by the community.

This is an assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
